May 2 is NKH awareness day , My granddaughter has been diagnoised with this disease and today is awareness day for this nasty disease, what is NKH?
Nonketotic Hyperglycinemia is an inherritted metabolic disorder. Patients suffering from this disorder have elevated level of glycine, a basic amino acid, in blood, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), and urine. The diagnostic characteristic is the elevated ratio of glycine in CSF/blood. Some patients died in the newborn period after a course characterized by lethargy, weak cry, generalized hypotonia, absent reflexes, and periodic myoclonic jerks. Survivors are subject to various degrees of mental retardation.
May is awareness month for arthritis, chronic fatigue and Fibromyalgia, high blood pressure, hypothyroid, Tinnitus, chronic pain, neuropathy, hearing loss of which I suffer. And yes I am aware of them in my life.

Comparative Pain Scale
|
Comparative Pain Scale
|
||
|
0
|
No pain. Feeling perfectly normal.
|
Minor Does not interfere with most activities. Able to adapt to pain psychologically and with medication or devices such as cushions. |
1 Very Mild
|
Very light barely noticable pain, like a mosquito bite or a poison ivy itch. Most of the time you never think about the pain. |
|
2 Discomforting
|
Minor pain, like lightly pinching the fold of skin between the thumb and first finger with the other hand, using the fingernails. Note that people react differently to this self-test.
|
3 Tolerable
|
Very noticable pain, like an accidental cut, a blow to the nose causing a bloody nose, or a doctor giving you an injection. The pain is not so strong that you cannot get used to it. Eventually, most of the time you don’t notice the pain. You have adapted to it.
|
Moderate Interferes with many activities. Requires lifestyle changes but patient remains independent. Unable to adapt to pain. |
4 Distressing
|
Strong, deep pain, like an average toothache, the initial pain from a bee sting, or minor trauma to part of the body, such as stubbing your toe real hard. So strong you notice the pain all the time and cannot completely adapt. This pain level can be simulated by pinching the fold of skin between the thumb and first finger with the other hand, using the fingernails, and squeezing real hard. Note how the similated pain is initially piercing but becomes dull after that. |
|
5 Very Distressing
|
Strong, deep, piercing pain, such as a sprained ankle when you stand on it wrong, or mild back pain. Not only do you notice the pain all the time, you are now so preoccupied with managing it that you normal lifestyle is curtailed. Temporary personality disorders are frequent.
|
6 Intense
|
Strong, deep, piercing pain so strong it seems to partially dominate your senses, causing you to think somewhat unclearly. At this point you begin to have trouble holding a job or maintaining normal social relationships. Comparable to a bad non-migriane headache combined with several bee stings, or a bad back pain.
|
Severe Unable to engage in normal activities. Patient is disabled and unable to function independently. |
7 Very Intense
|
Same as 6 except the pain completely dominates your senses, causing you to think unclearly about half the time. At this point you are effectively disabled and frequently cannot live alone. Comparable to an average migraine headache. |
|
8 Utterly
Horrible |
Pain so intense you can no longer think clearly at all, and have often undergone severe personality change if the pain has been present for a long time. Suicide is frequently contemplated and sometimes tried. Comparable to childbirth or a real bad migraine headache.
|
9 Excruciating Unbearable
|
Pain so intense you cannot tolerate it and demand pain killers or surgery, no matter what the side effects or risk. If this doesn’t work, suicide is frequent since there is no more joy in life whatsoever. Comparable to throat cancer.
|
10 Unimaginable Unspeakable
|
Pain so intense you will go unconscious shortly. Most people have never experienced this level of pain. Those who have suffered a severe accident, such as a crushed hand, and lost consciousness as a result of the pain and not blood loss, have experienced level 10.
GOINGS ON HERE IN THE OZARKS
Well me and my hubby have been trying to plant garden, it is getting harder and harder for both of us to do garden. Mike with his bad back and me with all my aches and pain and trouble getting around, our days are numbered with trying to do garden. But we will persevere as long as we are able. We got my tomatoes planted but they were looking pretty sickly. I planted sweet onions, carrots, zucchini squash and green beans. That was all we could do today. Tomorrow if it does not rain tonight we will hopefully finish planting. We have corn, okra, cantaloupe, watermelon, spaghetti squash, and cucumber to plant and hopefully we will be done.
We have very bad news in our family, my GrandDaughter MaKenna Grace, she is now 4 months old has been having a time with her health. She has been having many seizures and had to go to the Childrens Hospital to find out what is causing them. Well the bad news is that she has a very rare disease called:
Glycine encephalopathy, which is also known as nonketotic hyperglycinemia or NKH, is a genetic disorder characterized by abnormally high levels of a molecule called glycine. This molecule is an amino acid, which is a building block of proteins. Glycine also acts as a neurotransmitter, which is a chemical messenger that transmits signals in the brain. Glycine encephalopathy is caused by the shortage of an enzyme that normally breaks down glycine in the body. A lack of this enzyme allows excess glycine to build up in tissues and organs, particularly the brain, leading to serious medical problems.
The most common form of glycine encephalopathy, called the classical type, appears shortly after birth. Affected infants experience a progressive lack of energy (lethargy), feeding difficulties, weak muscle tone (hypotonia), abnormal jerking movements, and life-threatening problems with breathing. Most children who survive these early signs and symptoms develop profound intellectual disability and seizures that are difficult to treat. For unknown reasons, affected males are more likely to survive and have less severe developmental problems than affected females.
Researchers have identified several other types of glycine encephalopathy with variable signs and symptoms. The most common of these atypical types is called the infantile form. Children with this condition develop normally until they are about 6 months old, when they experience delayed development and may begin having seizures. As they get older, many develop intellectual disability, abnormal movements, and behavioral problems. Other atypical types of glycine encephalopathy appear later in childhood or adulthood and cause a variety of medical problems that primarily affect the nervous system.
Rarely, the characteristic features of classical glycine encephalopathy improve with time. These cases are classified as transient glycine encephalopathy. In this form of the condition, glycine levels decrease to normal or near-normal after being very high at birth. Many children with temporarily high glycine levels go on to develop normally and experience few long-term medical problems. Intellectual disability and seizures occur in some affected individuals, however, even after glycine levels decrease. http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/condition/glycine-encephalopathy
I don’t know what her future will be, I know her family and ours will be forever changed. The future looks very scary, we do not know what to expect, we will just have to see how it goes each day. I am so very sad and upset over this news, but it is what it is and we will just have to face it with faith that it will all work out.
Other news , I lost my beloved cat Kali, she adopted me about 5 or so years ago while we were still on the road trucking I would feed her all I could while I was home and hope that she would hunt and take care of herself while we were gone, she was an awesome hunter so I had no doubts of her ability. Then we left the trucking life and I was able to feed her everyday. She was an out door cat, I tried to bring her inside but she was very uncomfortable inside. I was fearful of the road out in front of our home and hoped she would be smart and stay out back which she normally did, I never saw her out front or near the road so I did not worry too much about it. Well she did not show up yesterday morning for her breakfast and I knew then that she was dead. Today we saw her body in a ditch near the road. I am so heart broken over her death. That makes 2 of my loved ones dying from that damn road in 2 months. This year is turning out to be very costly and sad for me. Along with that I have been going through a terrible flare with my arthritis, we had to change insurance and they do not pay very well on the prescriptions so the pain meds that had been working for me I was no longer able to afford and so I have had a terrible time with it this past month. Both my ankles and my knees have been swollen and very painful, I have been spending most of my time in my recliner because I just can’t get around with this . But it seems to be easing up for me now and so I am trying hard to get my yard work and house work done. It may take a lot longer to get my chores done, but I will not let this keep me down, damn it. And so it goes. I hope all reading this are having a better time of it than me. Blessed be

Stones I am using in my grieving process
As you may or may not know I lost my beloved dog Salem ,the first of this week, he got out and was run over. I knew that I was going to need help in this grieving process. So I looked up what stones that I have in my possession that would help me and this is what I have been using.I placed them in a medicine bag I picked up from an Apache store in the mountains of New Mex.
1. Rose Quartz. first off I feel terrible guilty and responsible for Salem’s death. I needed a stone to help me love myself even though I don’t want to right now, I know that I don’t want to get so down on myself , more so than I am already.
Rose quartz brings deep inner healing and self love. It is calming, reassuring and excellent for use in trauma and crisis. It gently draws off negative energy and replaces it with loving vibes. This stones comforts you in grief. Rosie is a help for a Taurus providing me the underpinning to love and care for myself in this terrible time.
2.Smokey Quartz. Ancient Romans used smokies as a mourning stone and to help overcome grief. Yes I need some help here in that area. It is a grounding stone but also at the same time raises your vibration. It is protective and assist one in trying times. It gently neutralizes negative energies and vibrations, and brings in positive energy into your space.Smokies relieves fears, lift depression and bring emotional calmness, yes I need that now. It mentally promotes more positive thoughts.
3
.Citrine. Is a powerful cleanser and re generator. This stone never needs cleansing and I am using it to assist my other stones in their work on my behalf.Citrine grounds negative energies. It will cleanse and balance my energies during this time. It will assist me to regain a positive energy and attitude as I begin to move forwards. Emotionally it will help promote joy in my life as it releases negativity, fears and feelings at the deepest levels. This stone will help me move into the flow of feelings and become emotionally balanced.Depression makes me very sluggish and citrine will help to energizes me and recharging me with the sun’s energies. As a Taurus, citrine will give me a sense of safety and security.
4.Herkimer diamond . I am using a very small one to enhance all the other stones, which is what this stone does best.
5.
Apache Tear Obsidian.A gentle stones that allows for you to bring up the negativity slowly so it can be transmuted. It is excellent for absorbing negative energy and protective. It comforts you in grief and promotes forgiveness, and I need that, because I find it hard to forgive myself for Salem’s death.
6.
Quartz crystal, the one Salem wore around his neck for a while before it was knocked off. I keep it by just to feel his energies around me.
The first 3 days was terribly hard, and I cried non stop all day and cried myself to sleep at night. Each day I am getting better and I believe these stones are speeding up the healing process, and for that I am so grateful. Thank you Mother Father Great Spirit for gifting us these wonderful helpers on Mother Earth, life is tuff, and hard and full of hardships, and you knew we would need help along the way and so you provided us with helpers such as pets, herbs, rocks and crystals and gems, to assist us. For that I am very thankful.
blessed be

I LOST MY DEAREST FURRY FRIEND
My heart is so grieved and empty today. Yesterday afternoon my beloved friend Salem shown here was hit by a car and died later on at the vet when he had to put him down. Salem was my dearest friend and companion, he was a joy and a comfort for me. I have lost many pets in my 55 years, but Salem he was special, becoming disabled like I am, and home bound my circle of friends have dwindle to none, and so Salem filled in a void in my life of being alone every day. My Hubby leaves at 7 am for work and comes home anytime after 4:30 , and I am usually home bound. So having Salem was so much company for me.He kept me company and followed me around with my chores. We played together and wrestled on the bed after I would make it. He decided that sleeping under the bed was his sleeping place at night. In our guest room the bed was up against the window where he spent his afternoon nap time and play time watching the neighbors and traffic go by. Evening he would chew on his bone , cow hide or toys under my feet while hubby and I watched tv or played on P.C. I only had him for almost a year and half but it was the best year and half of my lonely and hard time dealing with my disability and pain, he made life bearable and worth while. He was a comfort and a joy. He was an absolute gentleman and loving soul. I miss him terribly, I can’t stop crying and grieving over this great loss in my life. He will be missed so very much. I am so sorry Salem for not keeping a better eye on you, I knew how you loved to explore and I knew better .
Forgive me. I miss you so.
Love always, your momma and friend.
Facts about me
My Online Tarot Reading for Today.
Universal 6 Card Spread An online reading from here: http://www.free-tarot-reading.net/
Card 1 (Wheel Of Fortune) : How you feel about yourself now »
Perhaps you feel due for a bit of good luck or indeed are experiencing some at the moment. The Wheel of Fortune is a card of destiny. What is happening now we could call fate, so if positive things are happening with your love life, career or finances this is no coincidence. If no such things are happening, expect a sudden change in fortune.
My comment: The Wheel of Fortune is my 2012 year card, How I feel now is that I need a good change in my life right now, but really don’t know in what direction to go, I don’t really know my options. I have been so long in this rut that I need some help getting out of it. This has become a nasty habit and I keep doing the same things which we all know results in the same things happening over and over, it is time to get off this wheel and onto one that has better results for me.
Card 2 (The Lovers) : What you most want at this moment »
The cards suggest that what you most want at this time is to know what choice to make – carry on as you are or take a risk? The risk offers excitement and change and staying as you are …. Well you know what that has to offer. Dare to love, dare to live?
My comment: Yes it has been always about choices these past many years, I can’t seem to do make a decision and stick with it which I usually do not do. I am in limbo mainly out of fear, but I am hoping that I get some help and more information so I can make the best choice here for my highest good.
Card 3 (The Sun) : Your fears »
You are afraid that things seem too good to be true, so much pleasure and joy – well enjoy it, sometimes we can be pleasantly surprised. If you have been unwell this is a time of rejuvenation and good health. Perhaps you are afraid that things won’t actually get better – have faith you are about to enter a happy and pleasurable time. The Sun heralds an ending to difficulties and a time to celebrate with friends and loved ones, a time of pleasure and good news around children or the conception or birth of a longed-for baby.
My comment: Well it’s about time!! I have been complaining to self that I have not pulled the Sun card in ages so this week I have pulled it 3 times. I have not been well for a number of years, with lots of pain and disability . But my doctor put me on a different medication and the past few months have been wonderful. I am hoping that this will continue to improve so I can get on with my life. It is so hard to have a life when you are in constant pain and then the disability and depression that follows it. I do indeed hope that this year will be a year of good health and good changes for me. At least that is my intention.
Card 4 (Temperance) : What is going for you »
You are about to enter a period of peace and harmony in your relationship, career or life generally. You will find a way of handling difficult circumstances with calm confidence. Life is flowing at this time enjoy it.
My comment: Yes Yes, I need this right now!!! I accept all these cards as my intent for this year.
Card 5 (The Moon) : What is going against you »
You are frozen with fear, lack of nerve and confused as to what it is you actually want. You are allowing all your fears and anxieties to hold you back when you should be opening your mind to new and unexpected possibilities. You do need to be careful however, as there are deceitful people around who may seem charming but are only out for their own gains. If in a clandestine affair beware, your secret may be exposed.
My Comment: This describes me to a tee, yes I have been frozen out of fear and confusion and it is high time to move through them and get on with my life, I am not getting any younger at age 55 I would hope I have some years ahead of me and I DO NOT WANT IT TO CONTINUE as it has for the past 5 or more years. It is time to move on with my life and live life to the fullest.
Card 6 (The Hermit) : Outcome »
This is a time for you to be alone or may herald a time of loneliness. Take this time for quiet introspection and rest. Don’t worry you will find the answers, but the Hermit signals a warning not to make hasty decisions. If you have been unwell this is a time for rest and recuperation.
My comment: I have just moved out of the Hermit year, well lets say moving out of the Hermit into the Wheel year at my birthday in May so I would hope that this rest and recuperation will end soon especially around Springtime so I can do my gardening and maybe get some fishing done this year and feel like playing with my new Grand daughter who I haven’t held yet because I feel like crap and did not want to be around her if I had something she could catch,(my medications lower my immune system so I catch everything, but it relieves the pain ) she was born 5 weeks early on Dec. 17, she weighed all of 4 lbs. and 11 oz. and 19 inches long and I want some Granny time with her, damn it!
Usually on line tarot readings are not all that good, but I like this one and will keep it. I will intend that these cards will do their work in my life and help me manifest a good year for myself!!!!!
I hope you all are having a wonderful day!
abundant blessings
